Domain registration

WHOIS domain lookup

See a domain's public registration record - who it's registered with, how old it is, when it expires, and whether it's locked and DNSSEC-signed.

How this works
  • We read the public registry record over RDAP (via rdap.org). We never connect to the domain itself.
  • The domain you enter is used to produce this result and isn't stored.

Frequently asked questions

What is WHOIS and what does it show?

WHOIS is a domain's public registration record. It shows the registrar, when the domain was created and when it expires, its status locks, DNSSEC, and the nameservers. We read it over RDAP, the modern structured replacement for the old port-43 WHOIS protocol.

Why is the owner's name hidden or "redacted"?

Since GDPR, most registrars hide the registrant's personal details behind a privacy service, so you'll usually see "REDACTED FOR PRIVACY" instead of a name. The registrar, dates, status, and nameservers are still public.

How does a domain's age help spot a scam?

Many scam and phishing sites use domains registered just days or weeks earlier. A very recent creation date on a site claiming to be an established brand is a strong warning sign - cross-check it with our Link Checker.
